The Role

We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse (or Enrolled Nurse) for our Day Surgery Unit (DSU). As an experienced Nurse, you will manage patient care from pre-operative assessments through to post-operative recovery, collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth and efficient procedures, and provide compassionate support and education to patients and their families throughout their surgical journey.

Key accountabilities of this role include:

  • Provides care in accordance with documented care or treatment plans while prioritizing workload based on patient needs, acuity and optimal time for intervention
  • Ensures that all documentation is accurate and completed in a professional and timely manner and in accordance with MQ Health Policy
  • Participate in the identification, design and implementation of quality improvement activities, including policy review and development, self-initiated and directed by other members of MQ Health
  • Demonstrates a willingness to work positively within a team to achieve team goals and the provision of excellence in care/service delivery

Selection Criteria

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in DSU unit is highly desirable
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills and a proven ability to prioritise and multitask in a fast-paced environment and in critical incidents.
  • Flexible schedule (Monday-Friday preferred with possible alternating Saturdays)
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and exercise independent professional judgement and critical thinking
  • Well-developed computer skills including the use of electronic medical records systems, MQ Word, Excel and web-based research
